Plymouth Argyle (A) Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
April 22 2015

A place for fans of both Rovers and Plymouth Argyle to discuss Saturday afternoon's upcoming match at Home Park as Rovers make the long trip to Devon to face Argyle in their first game since Micky Adams left the Club.......

With the 2014/15 League Two season now into it's final two matches, our match discussion thread returns as Rovers prepare to make the long journey to Devon to take on play-off chasing Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.  Tranmere are of course going into the game on the back of four straight defats in which they haven't scored a goal - a run which saw Micky Adams leave his role as Manager last Sunday following the 3-0 home defeat to Oxford United,

Whether you are unable to make the game for any reason, or even if you are attending, this is the place to discuss all the pre-match build up including team line-up and score predictions, events during the match itself and all the post match fall-out and analysis.   The thread is open to fans of both sides to discuss the events surrounding the game so if you haven't got a Message Forum accounts yet then why not sign up now?

Stadium - Plymouth Argyle

During the game, Total Tranmere will also be providing Live score updates from Home Park via our Facebook and Twitter accounts so if you don't already do so, why not follow us why not do it right now so you don't forget later!  Just click on the two links above to go to our Social Media accounts.

It's going to be interesting to see how the players respond for sure. Lighten the mood suggests that there has been so much negativity that the players are so afraid of failure it is stopping them from playing to their ability. You can see this in their reaction when they go behind or fail to hold on to a hard-earned win or draw as well. Let's hope that a change of emphasis gets us 2 results, though I fear it will be too little too late.

I,m afraid Adams relied too much on bringing in older players who their clubs didn't want.IMO he should have put more faith in the younger premiership loanees viz. Rory Donnely and Green plus a couple of our own from the youth squad. These youngsters would have had a lot to prove..a chance to make a name for themselves, instead of the gutless mercenaries who hold the future of our great club in their hands.

Not sure about the too little too late thing
because if we win both games
hartlepool and Cheltenham will also have to
we are 2 pts behind and have better goal difference
and i can't see either of them winning both their games
or us to tell the truth
but if we do win both i am sure we'll stay up

Plymouth need the win to be in the play offs, they will have done their homework on our leaky defence, we can't defend set pieces so sadly I fully expect a 3-0 defeat and relegation. Would love to be more optimistic but the hope has been drained out of me by that useless tw@t, the stupid thing is I will still be hoping for a win and the big game next week, just can't see it.

rogers is part of the problem, i can`t see him having enough of an impact to get the extra 50% that`s required from the players, had it been a complete change i may have fancied us to sneak somthing, 2-0 defeat and relegation, sad, sad days

both our games look very difficult , think other 2 teams not got easiest of games but hartlepool at carlisle think the pool could get a win there . but do get crazy results every season at end as teams battle to beat the drop , but trfc to beat 2 top teams , asking awful lot

i think hartlepool will only draw on saturday and lose at carlisle i also think cheltenham will lose on saturday and lose at wimbledon, the problem is we wont get another point, unless adams was hated that much the players will now go out and look like a completely different team, pray, pray, pray

Plymouth need the win to be in the play offs, they will have done their homework on our leaky defence,

They can do all the home work they like, but they'll be acutely aware that change may bring more proactive defending, so throw the homework out of the window and just go for the "we must have attack minded players performing better than their defensive ones" mentality because expecting a flaky defense to materialise would be naive under the circumstances.

Sorry guys but our football league status close to the end. Have resigned myself to that fact for many weeks now. 2.0 away to Cheltenham sealed it for me. On the positive side its give me plenty of time to get used to life in the conference. Dare I say it?? I'm actually looking forward to next season?? Some crackin aways. Give us chance to rebuild under Palios. Will probably be on my own saying this but don't care whether we stay up or go down. Under any other chairman I'd probably fear the worse but in Palios I trust. He himself will admit he's made mistakes but confident he'll learn from it and get us back up next season. Meanwhile we have Chester, Wrexham and hopefully Southport to look forward to. This way of thinking has drastically improved my health of late. Personally I'll be looking out for Southport's results rather than our own. Couldn't care less...SWA

I too am resigned that our league status has gone.
But, I am confident that better times are ahead, under Palios, I believe that with the drastic changes off the pitch and the investment into the club that on the pitch will follow with the right football staff!

2-0 defeat!

0-0 half time then a 2nd half capitulation. Hartlepool draw Cheltenham lose. Proper squeaky bum time v bury. All ending in a party on the pitch

Don't think we can pull off "The Great Escape" and don't think we'll bounce straight back up either.

There are loads of teams in the Conference with players who score 20+ goals each a season who haven't been able to get promoted, so why people are thinking we can get promoted in the first season is a bit delusional imo.

Hope the lads prove me wrong today and next week, but being realistic about our current plight, it's more or less a given we'll be making the drop.

Just got to put the confidence into the new owners, its the first time we've had positivity from the top in many years. We should take a lot from that.

Whilst being pleased that Pools have escaped the drop, I was sorry to see a good club like Tranmere slip up. You gained a lot of respect from Poolies at the play off semi final, both in the way the club played and the way you applauded our team and supporters at the end.
Good luck.

Tranmere may have gone down, unless another team gets docked points for anomalies or financial misconduct, but that does not mean the club cannot bounce back in 1 season and there's a chance they can.

We'll just have to see what happens next season.
