Rovers complete signings of two strikers on one year deals

Tranmere Rovers have today completed the signings of strikers Adam McGurk and Lucas Akins on one-year deals.
The pair sign on free transfers having been released by their clubs in the summer, with McGurk leaving Aston Villa and Akins released by Scottish Premier League club Hamilton Academicals.
21-year old Adam McGurk has been at Tranmere for nearly a month now, and having impressed in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool, the Northern Ireland U21 international signed on a non-contract basis with the club, allowing him to be named in match day squads.

The striker scored a hugely imrpessed 30-yard strike in last weeks reserve team defeat to Macclesfield Town and made his Tranmere debut at the weekend in their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Prenton Park.
Although he never made an appearance for Aston Villa, McGurk impressed when rising through the clubs academy and had some success at reserve team level for the club.
Lucas Akins has also signed a one-year contract with the club having had a successful two-week trial at Prenton Park.
The pacey striker, who also played in the reserve defeat to Macclesfield last week, scored two goals in a pre-season friendly defeat to Connah's Quay for Tranmere's reserve side.
Also 21, Akins came through the academy at hometown club Huddersfield Town and after making his debut at only 18-years old.
Whilst with Huddersfield, Akins spent time on loan with Non-League side Northwich, scoring once in ten games, before joining Hamilton in 2007 for an undisclosed fee having made six appearances for the Yorkshire club.

Standing at over six feet tall, Akins made 13 appearances in three years with Hamilton, and also spent time on loan at Partick before being released this summer.
Both players are expected to be on the substitutes bench for Tranmere tonight, whilst Total Tranmere believes that Rovers are still in talks with Barnsley to sign striker Iain Hume
