Bent Windfall For Town?

Ipswich Town could be on the verge of landing £200,000 if former Town striker Darren Bent gets on the pitch for England tonight.

As part of the deal that took the premiership’s leading goal scorer from Portman Road to The Valley was a cash pay-out worth £200,000 for each of Bent’s first two competitive appearances for England and he could make one of those tonight.

With qualification for next summers World Cup in Germany already assured (with a little help from the Dutch) England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson may give Bent a run out against Poland tonight in England’s final group game. If Bent doesn’t play tonight his next chance of a competitive England appearance is in next summer’s world cup.
