Ipswich Town goalkeeper Lewis Price looks set to make his international debut when Wales take on Slovenia in a friendly later this month.

Wales boss John Toshack is with out first choice ‘keeper Paul Jones who has a fractured cheekbone bone while reserve ‘keeper Danny Coyne is not playing regular first team football meaning Price could start by default but that does not mean he didn’t earn the chance following his performances for Town in pre-season and against Cardiff on Saturday.

 

Price has said: “Paul Jones and Danny Coyne are both very experienced and excellent 'keepers.

 

“Playing regular first-team football at Ipswich can only help me become a better' keeper though and improve my chances of playing at international level.

 

“If I can do well for Ipswich, then maybe I can push on and get into the senior squad for Wales on a regular basis.

 

“People have said that the goalkeeper's position is up for grabs at Wales and if I can play consistently well for Ipswich, then perhaps I can grab it.”

 

Toshack names his squad for the friendly against Slovenia on the 17^th of August tomorrow and it is more than likely to include Price who qualifies to play for Wales through his dad.
