Ipswich Town assistant manager Willie Donachie says that Canadian winger Jaime Peters is unlikely to go into the first team straight away.

The 18-year-old Canadian international will sign officially for Town early next week after finally being granted a work permit but Donachie believes the supporters (some of which already see him as the saviour of Portman Road) will have to wait for him to blossom into the talent he potentially is.

 

Donachie: “The supporters need to be realistic about Jaime. He is young and has potential but we have to be a little patient.

 

“We won't put too much pressure on him but they may be from outside. We see him as along term prospect although hopefully he can do it straight away.

 

“I have seen him in training and he has a lot of potential. He has played for Canada at a young age but it is just potential.

 

“We have got to get him here and get him fit. We need players for next week not next moth or next year. Hopefully he will come in and set the place on fire but we have to wait and see.

 

“It is too early to tell if he will be involved against Cardiff. We will get him here first and integrate him into the team first.”
