Ipswich Town have removed their two year contract offer for Finnish international striker Shefki Kuqi.

Kuqi turned down the offer last week but Town keep the offer open to him until today, now Kuqi has no choice but to find a new club and he has wasted little time as its believed he is in talks with Crystal Palace and Blackburn.

 

Town manager Joe Royle has said: “I am not annoyed by Shefki's decision but am disappointed. I happen to think it's the wrong one, but that's his business.

 

“We made Shefki an offer and he rejected it so we responded by withdrawing our offer and pursuing other players to fill the gap.

 

“He was our top scorer with 20 goals and the fans made him their Player of the Year. It was the best season of his career. But when we made him the best offer we could he refused it and we felt we had no alternative but to immediately set about finding a replacement.”

 

One player Town are talking to is Reading striker Nicky Forster and talks between Town and the player have been confirmed by Royle, who added: “We have spoken to Nicky and a couple of other players, but that's as much as I want to say for the time being.”
