Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle believes that Town’s inability to put away their chances cost them the game today.

Royle: “I thought the scoreline was slightly harsh on us but they took their chances and we missed ours and that was the difference, there lies the difference between the Premiership and the Championship, the cutting edge because you don't win games without scoring goals.

“The changes we made when we went to three in attack before they scored perhaps played into their hands because they caught us on the counter a few times and Premiership football is played on the counter.

“But while I am disappointed to be out of the Cup, I am not totally dejected about it and I certainly didn't want a draw because we play enough games as it is.”

Royle did however find two positives from the game, namely Scott Mitchell and Daniel Karbassiyoon, adding: “Scott did very well and didn't look out of his depth and Danny's fitness was up on the Plymouth game and the lad looks to have an encouraging future.”
