Ipswich Town have given a ten day trial to 27 year old Canadian international midfielder Sandro Grande starting today.

Ipswich Town have given a ten day trial to 27 year old Canadian international midfielder Sandro Grande starting today.

The 27 year old midfielder was part of the Montreal Impact side that won the North American Soccer League championship last season, losing only 5 times in all competitions.

Canadian international boss Frank Yallop recommended him to him to Ipswich and Grande’s agent made the call that resulted in this trial.

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle: “The lad's agent approached us and asked if we would take the player on trial, Jason knows him from playing for Canada and he will be with us for a week or so.”

Grande added: “I have heard a lot of good things about Ipswich from Jason, who I spoke to at the last Canadian camp, and Frank (Yallop) has told me he believes I will do well here.

“From what I hear, Ipswich's style of football will suit me and I'm really excited about being here.

“I played seven years in Italy and would love to play in Europe again, where there is a higher standard of football than there is at the moment in Canada.”
