Interference?

The honour of wearing the famous White Shirt is something any of us would give our right arm for. Yet six first-team players refused to play in this week's 2-1 defeat away to Charlton citing ongoing injuries. Bellusci has now had his injury confirmed an will miss the final two games of the season, but there is tension in the air at Elland Road as the fans believe Cellino is trying to destabilise the popular manager Redfearn.

Neil Redfearn is a popular man and an excellent coach who has secured Championship status for the Mighty Whites. Albeit, the recent run has been miserable but it all stems from the inexplicable sacking of his number two Steve Thompson. It would appear that Redfearn is not wanted at Elland Road by the authorities running this great club as six Cellino signings withdrew from Redfearn's matchday squad for the Charlton game, including top scorer Mirco Antenucci. 

But why? Why destabilise a man who is popular with the fans, has done a pretty good job under the circumstances and implemented a youth policy that has brought the best out of Alex Mowatt, Sam Byram and Lewis Cook?

Is it jealousy? Could Cellino be jealous of the popular Redfearn? Jealous that the fans are beginning to see the cracks in his regime? Cellino knows that football is a results business. He can sack Redfearn whenever he likes, but it would be better to do so if the results aren't going his way. Five straight defeats may give him enough reason but I doubt it would be a popular decision. A third managerial casualty of the season would not look good to prospective candidates. 

All Cellino can do at the moment is wait for Redfearn's contract to expire. The Club's President will hope results don't go the way of the Whites (now that they're safe) and that there is little fuss should Redfearn depart. The only way to guarantee this is to interfere. Insitigate the withdrawal of 6 first teams players, including the first choice goalkeepr and the club's top scorer for the season for a tough away game and Redfearn is stuck between a rock and a hard place. 

Of course we can't be sure that Cellino was involved. There is no evidence, just suspicion. The club has released a statement stating that all 6 players were actually injured for the match and Redfearn stated that he had to take them at "face value". But all is not well at Elland Road and it would appear the seeds of anarchy have been planted at Thorpe Arch, but with only suspicions as to who planted them.
