Guiseley Defeated by Huddersfield in Pre-Season Clash

Newly-promoted Guiseley were ultimately unable to to challenge Huddersfield Town despite a plucky performance at Nethermoor Park.

Huddersfield proved to be just too clinical in front of goal in a game of few chances, but Guiseley can take heart from their pre-season opener against an established Championship side.

Manager Mark Bower used an experimental side but found his side 2-0 down early on after Holmes and Butterfield scored for the visitors. Nicky Boshell pulled one back for the home side from the spot to give them a glimmer of hope just before half-time.

A tense and even second-half gave neither side many chances but it was Huddersfield who scored the all-important 'next goal' in the 89th minutes as Joe Lolley sealed the win for Chris Powell's men.

Guiseley will now welcome Barnsley to Nethermoor and will be confident of causing an upset after this performance.
