Despite TV replays showing it had crossed the line. ref Phil Dowd refused to give it and the linesman agreed, despite looking right at it, this was one of the most infuriating and frustrating games for a long time.
We can't blame the ref though, for a very poor first half performance.Wigan were very much the better team and they looked sharper and hungrier then us.Despite this we hit the post through Bowyer, who was probally the pick of the bunch in the first half, as he at least showed a bit of commitment.Natrually he got injured and was replaced by the circus clown Ameobi.Yes, he was out of position, but being out of position shouldn't inhibit your ability to control a piece of leather, something Ameobi couldn't do all afternoon(amongst other things).Get rid now.
Onto the second half and Emre was introduced, for about 5 mins Wigan had the share of the play, but once Emre settled into his task, he quickly started to dictate the game, he was sharp, lively and always wanted the ball.Very encouraging.Once again, we had no luck and anytime we threatened to score, Dowd did everything he possibly could to stop that from happening. How these people can get away with such obvious bias to another team I will never know.
A very dissapointing result and one that really hurt me and the rest of the fans a great deal, but let's be encouraged by the performace of Emre and look foward to giving the mackems a good pounding next week!
