Arsene Wenger refused to rule out a move for Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas following his sides loss in the Community Shield.

After going down 2-1 to Premiership Champions Chelsea, Wenger spoke briefly about the Jenas situation.

He was asked if he was keeping an eye on the events unfolding on Tyneside, and replied "We keep an eye on the whole world."

"We'll make a decision when we need to, but in the meantime we should focus on our own players."

Jenas' future with Newcastle is in doubt following revelations that he is unhappy with life in the "goldfish bowl." Tottenham failed with a bid for the England midfielder earlier in the summer, however it is rumoured that they are still prepared to do battle with their North London rivals for his signature, despite the wealth of midfielders already present at White Hart Lane.
