So Far…

Jean-Alain Boumsong was born in Cameroon but was told he was too frail to play professional football but he persevered and moved to France to chase his dream.

He played youth football for US Palaiseau, signing for Le Harve in the mid-nighties, debuting in 1998.

He signed for Auxerre in 2000 and sturggled to break into the first team but managed to make a few appearances as a squad player and became an important player, starting in all 6 Champions League games for the club.

He signed of a free transfer to Rangers in August 2003 but didn’t spend long at Ibrox as his desire to play in the Premiership and Newcastle’s desperation for a new centre-back became the ideal oppotunity.

Boumsong proceeded to sign as the transfer window opened for a fee of Ł8 million and has been a regular at centre-back ever since.
