Jeans NOT For Sale

After Laurent Robert claimed that Jenas may leave the club, and rumours of a bid from Spurs, Newcastle have insisted the 22-year-old will remain at the club.

The club was furious at Laurent Robert’s comments about Jenas so they fined him 2 weeks wages for the second time in 24 hours, after comments regarding Graeme Souness.

The club have also reported Robert, who joins Portsmouth tomorrow, to the FA.

Newcastle have also quickly moved to deny that Jenas will be leaving.

An official statement read:

"Jermaine signed a five-year contract until 2008. The player is not for sale and the club has no reason to believe that the player is unhappy.

"The club is furious over Robert's recent outbursts which are clearly designed to be disruptive within the club.

"Nevertheless, Newcastle United are also clear in their view that Jermaine is here for the long term and that Robert - still a contracted player for Newcastle United - should keep his opinions to himself."
