According to Spanish newspaper 'el pais', Newcastle United are going to make a move for Anderlecht defender, Vincent Kompany. AC Milan thought they had secured a deal for the player, but things are never simple!
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Inter Milan and now Newcastle are all after the Anderlecht ace.
His agent Jacques Lichtenstein was quoted as saying: "The most concrete offers we have received for Kompany have come from England and Barcelona.
"I want to categorically deny the ridiculous news that he is preparing to sign for an Italian club next month.
"We have never even spoken to an Italian club because he wants to stay at Anderlecht at least until the end of the current season and so do the club."
News of a cash and swap deal with Milan was reported last week, but by the sounds of it, that has now changed. Italian press still feel he will end off in Italy, with Inter hot favourites.
The deal offered by Inter would see Kompany come go in their direction, with striker Lambos Choutos moving in the opposite direction in a loan deal.
"Anderlecht has asked Inter for the loan of the Greek forward Lambos Choutos," revealed Kompany's agent, who is also an adviser to the Belgian club.
"It will be a six-month loan and is confirmation of the optimal relationship between us and the Nerazzurri."
On Kompany, the agent added: "The Champions League is going badly, therefore, if an adequate offer of 6-8 million arrives, Kompany can leave the club."
Any deal is likely to be around the £8 million mark.
