Newcastle United have been linked with another defender, as Souness’ search for 3 new members of the back-line continues.

It is reported that this time, Souness has his eye on Polish skipper Jacek Bak. Souness spotted the experienced centre-back on a scouting trip to France last year and last week, watched him in international action for Poland.

The 31-year-old, currently contracted to French team Lens, is a regular in the Poland side and has made 37 appearances, scoring 1 goal.

The veteran has struggled with injuries in the past few years, missing games for Poland and in 2002, only managing one game at the World Cup.

Bak became out of favour at his previous club, Lyon, but at his time there he won the French 1st Division in 2002.
