Stephen Carr speaks about United's first home game of the season against his former side Tottenham. Spurs won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Thimothee Atouba in the second-half but Carr is confident his new side can bounce back on Wednesday with a game against Premiership newboys Norwich City.

CARR SAID:

"It's good that we have an opportunity on Wednesday to get that Spurs game out of our systems.

"Any game would be good, but the fact it's at home gives us a good chance to put things right because we were all disappointed with the result on Saturday.

"We created enough chances to win the game in the first half alone, but we did not put them away and we've paid the price.

"As for their goal, the lad has cut inside from the left and it has just opened up for him. It's a great goal for him, but disappointing from our point of view."

The Spurs squad welcomed Carr and wished him well, but the travelling fans gave him a bit of stick.

CARR ADDED:

"That didn't really surprise me to be honest, but it didn't bother me in the slightest.

"All I was focused on was doing my job for Newcastle United, that's what I'm paid to do and I'm disappointed with the result.

"But I'm confident we can get it turned around, hopefully starting against Norwich on Wednesday night."
