Newcastle United's young striker Michael Chopra seems likely to spend at least the first half of next season on loan again. The England U21 international has struggled to oust fellow front men Shearer, Bellamy, Ameobi from the front line, and it looks more than possible than Lomana Lua Lua will be returning to the Toon from a spell at Pompey, which would prove to be another obstacle in Chopra's search for first team action.

With his contract running out at the end of next season, Chopra is eager to prove his worth to the team and is prepared to go out on loan to gain more first team opportunities, returning for the second half of the season to help Sir Bobby Robson's team for the season's finale.

The youngster from Gosforth is well liked by Toon supporters, with him being a product of the youth system, joining in 1993 as a schoolboy.  Despite never scoring for Newcastle in ten appearances, he netted five times in a previous spell at Watford, which was followed last term by an unsuccessful loan period at Nottingham Forest.
