Smith > Newcastle (If Leeds Are Relegated)

Newcastle United will be making a move for Leeds United striker Alan Smith, if the Yorkshire club were to be relegated to Division One at the end of the season. Jimmy Walker

SMITH UPDATE

Leeds have recently been taken over, and their new owners aren't expected to make Smith available if they survive the drop. If they were relegated however, Smith is likely to leave.

An enquiry from Newcastle for Smith was rejected back in January. Birmingham City and Charlton are also in for the England striker.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have joined Newcastle United's interest in Panathinaikos fullback Giourkas Seitardis.

Seitardis is set to leave Greece after Euro 2004 and the asking price is beleived to be around £2.5 million.
