SHEARER'S RETIREMENT DATE

Fans and players have called for Shearer to return to the national side, although Shearer dismissed these open invitations.

Although he is still scoring goals on a regular basis for his club, the former Southampton and Blackburn Rovers ace has insisted that he will hang up his boots next summer, at the age of 34.

"Yep most definitely that is it for me - just one more season after the next that is it," said Shearer.

"Hopefully we will get some silverware in between now and then.”

We don't know who will be brought in to replace the United skipper, but what we do know is that it will be a hell of a task! The club's staff better start working now - it will be impossible to replace such a legend!
