BRIDGES: I WILL GET GOALS

He said: "A goal would have been the icing on the cake for me - I think I was away celebrating before the ball hit my foot.

"It's disappointing, but it was still fantastic to pull on the black-and-white shirt and get that reception from the fans.

"I've cheered the lads on a few times in the past, so it's just great to be part of it now.

"I was just wanting to get out there and try and do something.

"Unfortunately I didn't put the ball in the back of the net when I had the chance. I didn't know which corner of the ground to run to if I scored - that was going through my mind and I was thinking about the opportunity before I struck the ball.

"That's where I failed, but there will be other opportunities."

He added, "I'm just going to enjoy the fact I've pulled on the black and white shirt.

"It means so much to me, my family and everyone who knows me. It's been a dream all my life to get on at St James' Park and it has come off for me.

"There are a lot of great strikers here. It's a great club and an honour to be part of it."
