The Alan Smith Saga Continues

Leeds Utd have said over the last few days that a move for Smith would be rejected and that their star player is going no where! However with administration looming over them the club are in desperate need of raising 5m within the next week to keep them safe until the end of the season. Newcastle Utd have been rumoured to be chasing Smith everyday for the past few weeks with Freddy Shepherd ready to swoop at any time for the lowest price possible. A bid of 2m was previously rejected and has apparently been upped to 3m to persuade the club.

Will Leeds be able to refuse?

Viduka on the other hand is earning approximately 65k a week and Trevor Birch has already said that if anyone goes it will be those wages. Viduka is at the minute in Australia on compassionate leave at the side of his un-well father, but no doubt he will be tracking the progress the club is or isn’t making.

With the players each refusing to take a pay cut a sale is inevitable.
