SMITH SWOOP

The Daily Mail had reported that cash-strapped Leeds will be ready to sell Alan Smith for a cut-price £3 million as this may potentially be enough to keep creditors happy to the end of the season.

Magpies' manager Sir Bobby Robson is an admirer of the 23-year-old striker and reportedly had a £2 million bid for Smith rejected earlier this month.

However, with Leeds having just seven days left to avoid administration, their improved offer should be enough to convince Leeds to part with the striker.
