Newcastle United 'keeper Shay Given could move from St James's Park once his current contract expires in 2007, as he wishes to recieve a winners medal during his playing career - something he isn't sure he will receive at Newcastle. Jimmy Walker

GIVENS FUTURE?

He said: "I wish we could get a bit closer to the big three - Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

"Last season we were getting close, but we now seem to be going away from them. After two months of this season we were out of the race and that is a big shame for me and the club.

"I would like to stay here for my career but I wouldn't like to think I won't win anything.

"That is the bottom line. You have to want to finish your career and say: 'I won that'. At the minute, I don't have too much to call on.

"Hopefully I have 10 years left in the game and I want to win something in that time. To do that at Newcastle, the club has to keep strengthening.

"Manchester United and other teams are and if we don't we are in danger of falling behind.

"Perhaps we were slow to react in the summer. Manchester United were champions but brought five players in. We don't have as big a squad as them and Chelsea."
