Gary Speed has thrown down the gauntlet to whoever Newcastle face in the next round of the uefa cup. We are one of the teams seeded and will avoid teams like Barcelona, Roma and Liverpool plus the teams that have now joined the uefa cup after not qualifying for the next round of the champions league.

Despite that Speed who is playing as well as ever in our midfield insists Newcastle will fancy their chances whoever they face and are aiming to follow Celtics lead from last season and get to the final. Speed said “It’s a big bonus being seeded with the champion’s league teams coming in. Like Celtic did last season, we are looking to go all the way. Whoever we play we won’t be afraid of them. We’re relishing it and it will be interesting to see who we get”.
