SHEARER FOR ENGLAND?

Newcastle United boss Sir Bobby Robson has insisted that he had not spoken to skipper Alan Shearer about an international comeback, and has said that he will play no part in Shearer's descision.

Shearer was on the scoresheet yesterday as Newcastle drew 1-1 with Liverpool at St James' Park, and Robson said, "It's not my shout, it's Alan's shout, isn't it?

"He made a decision two or three years ago which has benefited us.

"He'd made up his mind, he'd had enough of it. It's because he's been doing so well and he's in good form. Ask Sami Hyypia today what it's like to play against Alan Shearer and he'll tell you.

"He's had a fine match, but whether he wants to play for England, one last chance, I don't know."
