The number 9 shirt, the most famous in the history of the club and we have had some greats. In the recent times God himself or as the pundits call him, SHEARER. Smashing in a total of 206 goals for the club he loves.
Go back in time before you were around, Hughie Gallagher and Wor Jackie goals galore for the club, and then their will be a name which you may not of heard of Albert Stubbins in the wartime games classed as friendlies, he got an impressive 188 goals in just 231 games.
Flash forward we had Super Mac, Imre Varadi and a brazilian called Mirandinha. Sir Les was part of the football we loved, 50 goals in 83 games. Before Sir Les thier was Andy Cole or Andrew is you listen to him now and scored a total of 41 goals in one season. But for me my favourite number 9 is, Sumo Mick Quinn.
