Dyer a 'New Player'

Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has likened Kieron Dyer's return from injury to that of signing a new player.

Dyer has finally recovered from a long string of injuries, and the midfielder has scored 3 in 5 games since his comeback.

Roeder said:

"Kieron has played a few games now and it is a completely different Kieron Dyer to the one we have seen over the last 18 months in terms of his ability to accelerate without having any fear of breaking down,"

"You can see that has given him a big confidence. It is no coincidence he has scored three goals in this period.

"The three he has scored have been excellent strikes. You can just see the Kieron Dyer of old, the Kieron Dyer who first signed for the club.

"He is running totally pain-free with no worries or doubts at the back of his mind that he is going to break down.

"In many respects, it has been like signing a new player."
