Manager Ronnie Moore scoops the dreaded League One Manager of the Month award for August whilst Andy Robinson nets the player of the month award for the division for the same month in recognition of Rovers excellent start to the season....
As Rovers prepare to face Coventry City at home tomorrow in NPower League One, they were dealt something of a blow to their chances of winning the game with the news that Manager Ronnie Moore has deservedly won the League One Manager of the Month award for August. In addition to his success, one of his star performers so far this season Andy Robinson, has also scooped the Player of the Month award for August.
The double award success announced this morning is worthy recognition of Rovers’ tremendous start to the season so far, being unbeaten in their first five League matches with three wins and two draws whilst only conceding two goals in the process and one of those being a penalty at home to Leyton Orient.
The Manager of the Month award of course is seen by many as something of a jinx and whilst the awards are great for the club as a whole and for the recipients Ronnie and Robbo, it is perhaps the last thing the club needed ahead of two important home games in the next five days.

Robinson has undoubtedly been the centre point of Rovers’ success so far this season. He single handedly won Rovers the game away at Carlisle with his quite brilliant hat-trick and has weighed in with a number of assists in other games including the first and all important goal just before half time in the 4-0 home drubbing of Colchester United a fortnight ago.
Robinson is the first Rovers player to win a monthly player award since Iain Hume did so back in March 2004 whilst the Manager award has not been won by a Rovers boss since Brian Little won it a month after Hume’s success in April 2004.
Total Tranmere would like to congratulate Ronnie Moore and Andy Robinson on their awards and we will no doubt all cross fingers that the result on Saturday is not jinxed by this success!
