Ronnie Moore admitted that his side need to dramatically improve their away form into 2009 ahead of the long trip to Colchester United on Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the new year. An improvement in away form may see Rovers push for a play-off place by May.

Ronnie Moore admitted that his side must improve their away form in 2009 ahead of the long trip to Colchester on Saturday afternoon.

Moore told Tranmere World..... 

"It has been a good Christmas, though it could have been better.  All managers are greedy and want as many points as they can get, but the lads have done well and worked their socks off.  They've kept going to the death and things have balanced themselves out."

"We complained about the two cup defeats, conceding goals in the 93rd minute, but we've done the same to two other teams in the league."

"They're a good squad of players and they have the belief.  The crowd got behind us and were vocal and we need that when things aren't quite going for us."

"There was a lot of noise and there's nothing better than when you score the winner that late on in the game."

"We do have a problem away from home.  That's whether we play 4-5-1 or 4-4-2.  Whichever players we have in there have to be more disciplined and organised.  The number of goals we've given away from set pieces away from home is ridiculous."

"If you're not winning away from home you will miss out.  It puts too much pressure on your home games.  We had better away form than home form at the start of the season, so we know how to win away from home.  You have to be consistent.  We know we're a good side at home, it's just tinkering with something away from home."

"Colchester have had a decent run.  They found it hard to win games when they first went to the new ground, because even as the home team it's like an away match.  It takes time, and they're now winning at home. They're a good side and we know we have to be at our best if we are to go there and get three points."              

Moore also confirmed that Chris Greenacre and Craig Curran remain unavailable due to injury.
