Rodgers left last week after beating a number of candidates to the highly lucrative position on offer at Stamford Bridge.

Rodgers was originally recommended to the post by the Blues Assistant Manager Steve Clarke. Following the recommendation, Champions League Winner Mourinho invited Rodgers to send his CV along with 4 other candidates. After viewing all 5 CV's, Mourinho pin pointed Rodgers as the favourite for the position. The pair then met and Rodgers was quick to accept the offer subject to Reading Football Club granting permission which wasn't an issue.

However the post could become more difficult than expected. Why would Chelsea want to have a youth team when they can buy any player in the world with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bankrolling the club? However that is a challenge that faces Rodgers and he will have every intention of producing the world's best players.

Rodgers will be playing attractive football with Chelsea with Mourinho preferring the 4-3-3 formation along with the diamond formation.

With Rodgers now departed from the Madejski Stadium, a new position is available at the club. Geoff Warner is currently in temporary charge while the club seeks to make a new change. Warner himself is in the frame for the position along with Exeter City manager Eammon Doyle and former West Ham boss Glenn Roeder.

Director of Football Nick Hammond said on the job available;

"We've had an enormous amount of interest in the position, and I am looking closely at all the possible candidates."

But Hammond suggests that their could be a change of setup now that a position is available.

"We've got some very good people in-house who we can look to move around and maybe we can change the set-up slightly. The guys here are very capable but there's also been enormous interest from outside because of our reputation. We need to look at all possibilities but we'll certainly have a new member of staff in some capacity."

Hammond will be hoping for a swift appointment so that normal service can be resumed as soon as possible.
