Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has pledged his committment to the club, despite talking to the press at the weekend about how dismayed he is at not having had a decent offer put on the table. Taylor who captains the England Under 21's is has been fully supported by manager Kevin Keegan, but also told he will have to wait until the Premier League campaign is over before negotions start.

The 22 year old said:

"I am 100 per cent committed to Newcastle, I cannot see myself leaving this football club this is where I want to play my football and I am happy here.

Obviously working for Kevin Keegan for me is fantastic, I remember me and my dad on the terraces going to games and to be now working under him is fantastic, a dream come true.

We have been through a difficult time, but we will definitely pull through it,

I have been here since I was nine-years-old as a fan on the terraces and having 52,000 Geordie fans screaming every week, even if we are getting beat, always behind you and that is what you need.

Obviously it has been a difficult last few months and I think results have not been going our way.

On Saturday against Blackburn it was a massive improvement, the team has been working hard and we are sticking together.

I think if we keep playing like we did on Saturday there is no reason why we can't move up the table. Obviously we are in a bad position at the moment but there is room for improvement."

Taylor has 18months left on his contract but declined a new 5 year deal in the summer because he would still have been on one of the lowest wages at the club.

Shame his brain always is but against Man U his feet were 0% commited after that Ronaldo 2nd goal.

Yeah, Ronaldo made him look like an idiot. He's hardly alone in that.

I have to point out, however, that he wouldn't have been in a 1 v 1 situation with the best footballer in the world if Faye hadn't muffed a simple clearance.

As Tunyc Said, what with Ronaldo being the best player in the world (Up yours Kaka and Messi) - I'm prepared to let Taylor off with it.

Messi doesn't even enter the equation. He's proved very little, though is very skilled-and there's a million players of whom you can say that.

Kaka can give Ronaldo a run literally and figuratively but he plays in a league where defenders don't tackle, so...
