12. Willy Gueret

Position: Goalkeeper

Date of Birth: 03/08/1973

Nationality: French

Previous clubs: Red Star 93, Le Mans, Millwall, Swansea

Frenchman Willy became an instant hit in his debut season in Milton Keynes, playing a key part in Paul Ince's double winning side.

Although Joe Lewis' price-tag saw him pip Willy to a place in the League Two team of the season, the former Swansea man was undoubtedly the best 'keeper in the league and earned the Dons so many points with some truly outstanding saves.

As if he wasn't already popular enough, he became a real Dons hero when he kept out Grimsby's Danny Boshell's penalty in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley to prevent the Dons going behind - and he'd already saved four penalties during the season before that.

A 'keeper with superb reflexes and a huge physical presence, his only real weakness is maybe occasional wayward kicking, although he possesses an extremely good throw.

His form saw him linked with a move to follow Paul Ince to Premiership side Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2008, but to the delight of Dons fans Willy stayed put and penned a new deal midway through the 2008/09 season to keep him at the club until July 2011.
