Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has been named the Coca-Cola League One Manager of the Month, beating off competition from the other three managers of the top four clubs in the division, as the Dons won five matches in April.
The Dons' only slip-up was a costly one as a 0-1 defeat to Walsall saw Peterborough United clinch the second automatic promotion spot, but otherwise a much defensively tighter looking Dons side added 15 points out of a possible 18 to their total.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the Manager of the Month awards panel, said:
"MK Dons had a great end to the season, winning six of their last seven games. Despite their defeat to Walsall, Di Matteo led his team on a fantastic run, and they are sure to be high on confidence going into the playoff semi final against Scunthorpe this week."
The other nominees for the award were Leicester City's Nigel Pearson, Peterborough United's Darren Ferguson and Leeds United's Simon Grayson. The Championship award went to Preston North End manager Alan Irvine, while Brentford's Andy Scott picked up the League Two gong.
