Player Profile #9

9. Aaron Wilbraham

Position: Forward

Date of Birth: 21/10/1979

Nationality: English

Previous clubs: Hull City, Stockport, Bradford City (loan), Oldham (loan)

A player who has improved in each season he has played for the club, Aaron's ability to not only hold the ball up but do it with a touch of quality made him the club's key frontman during the 2008/09 season.

Arriving at the club as a striker, Albie's form didn't really blossom until the arrival of Martin Allen, who utilised him as an attacking midfielder. Some would argue that his injury late in the season cost the Dons promotion as he contributed seven league goals from midfield.

Moved back into attack but clearly a technically improved player thanks to his spell in midfield, Aaron bagged ten goals in 35 appearances under Paul Ince as the Dons won promotion from League Two, before the arrival of Roberto Di Matteo as manager saw him hit his best form yet, adding a poacher's side to his game that saw his career best record of 12 league goals reached by the beginning of February.
