John Hastie
By TarnTalk April 22 2008
Taking over from Arthur Fairclough straight after the reds had won the FA Cup in 1912, there were always going to be high expectations of new Barnsley manager John Hastie and an exciting few season's followed with many players leaving and new faces coming in.

Although the club did well, finishing in fourth and fifth place over the next two seasons, Hastie didn't quite manage to repeat Faircloughs success or get the Reds to the promised land of the top flight.

With Europe and the World on the brink of an all out World War, Hastie resigned in the summer of 1914 along with the club's trainer Bill Norman.
