McLaren rejoined Rovers in summer 2009 after a year away from the club at Bradford City.
McLaren had had two successful seasons on the Wirral between 2006-2008 but chose to drop a division with Bradford, but an unhappy season saw him return.
The 33 year old central midfielder is a dead ball specialist and has played at the same level throughout his career. He has previously appeared for Luton, Sheff Wed and Rotherham.
