Hartlepool Utd v Tranmere Rovers - Match Discussion Thread
By Total Tranmere
October 24 2009
Throughout the season we will provide you with a platform to discuss each and every Rovers match whether it be the build-up to kick-off or post match analysis so here we bring you the Match Discussion Thread for Saturday afternoon's Coca Cola League One match away at Hartlepool United...........
Hartlepool U v Tranmere
Kick-Off 3.00pm at Victoria Park
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.
Tranmere of course away at Hartelpool United on Saturday afternoon in Coca Cola League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores in Coca-Cola League One as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
We really need to be getting something from this game.
Hartlepool are one of those beatable sides and it's important to note they lost to Colchester, who we got a good point against.
Nothing less than a point or I'll be disappointed.
I'm really happy with how things have gone to date under Les, the players and fans are clearly more comfortable with him in charge and I think that feel good factor is important.
However saying all that I would appoint Jewell ASAP as I think that is the best long-term interests of the club.
only chance I get to be the first to post following a match...
I thought we were unlucky today against an average Hartlepool team.
Good to see us getting into them right from the off, despite playing into the wind, gutted to concede a minute before the break..they never deserved a goal...
Thought Goodison really came into the game in second half, I thought he showed a real drive & passion for the game today and put in a real 'leaders' perforemance...
couldn't stop thinking that the chant re Les must be up for a record, coz I clockded it at over 10mins without a break..
listened to it on the radio,we seemed to do everything but score, you have these games every so often where no matter what you do,it just wont go in,the commentators were astounded at the straight red card, but seemed to beleive that we played well
Completely shocked that we've walked away with nothing to show. We were better again, the first half we were far superior to Hartlepool, and the very last 20 mins as well. Created so many chances but nothing would go in, Goodison came so close at the end!
All 3 strikers were absent today, didn't really get involved and Curran was back to what seems to be his usual self - poor again. Can't believe McLaren is still in the team either.
As for the red card, both players dived in and Barnett did win the ball, maybe he caught the ball and thats what made the referee give the free-kick. I don't think he was sent of for the tackle though, as soon as the free-kick was given he was in the ref's face moaning away, so he must of said something to get sent off as the tackle certaintly didn't merit it.
Its the usual story we cannot keep a clean sheet and fail to score again away from home.
I think we really need the new manager in quickly as we again are in danger of being cut adrift in the reegation places.
We played OK but there was nothing in the penalty area really even when we did get the ball in there.
The defence were once again shocking for the goal and Broomes didn't had a great game this afternoon to be fair.
Welsh and McLaren just don't seem to do it in midfield and as Mikey said to me onthe way home, on apitch as wide as that one today we should have maybe gone for 4-4-2 not 4-3-3.
Barnett was seemingly sent off for foul and abusive language and if that is the case it backs up the reasons I've heard in the past for him not getting in the team.
Man of the Match was probably Goodison for this game followed by the ever reliable Gareth Edds who I think is great.
I don't wish to be negative really but a miracle worker is needed as Barnes's replacement but sadly despite recent improvements League Two looks highly likely next season.
Finally I just want to stress just how much I hate going to Hartlepool - five visits and no wins so far (four defeats and a 0-0 draw). Will I go again if we play them next season?.....
Barnett was seemingly sent off for foul and abusive language and if that is the case it backs up the reasons I've heard in the past for him not getting in the team. if you watch it again on the tv sub you will see it was the challange he got the red card for the moan came after, the red card was harsh but think the ref seen it as two fotted would like to know what you have heard about barnett was hopeing he would do well this season after finding his feet towards the end of last season
