After a two week trial in which he impressed in front of Tranmere Manager John Barnes for Rovers' Reserve side, it is being reported tonight by Sky Sports that French defender Zoumana Bakayogo has signed a short term deal with the Club until January to add yet more options to a currently fragile back-line.

After making his first appearance in last week's 4-1 Reserve defeat against Rochdale in which he made a good impression despite the scoreline, the 23 year old former Millwall player played again in last night's 4-1 defeat to Leicester City's Reserves at the Walkers Stadium and it is now reported that he has signed a short term deal at Prenton Park until January.

If the signing is confirmed by the Club tomorrow, Bakayogo will surely go straight into John Barnes's squad to face his former side Millwall at the New Den on Saturday afternoon and having played at left-back for the Reserves, may provide decent competition for youngster Aaron Cresswell.

Bakayogo becomes the third recent free signing by John Barnes after the signings of Kithson Bain and more recently former Leeds winger Seb Carole on a similar short term to deal to the one reportedly signed by Bakayogo today.

Cresswell needs competition, he's been a bit disapointing this season.

if hes signed its only for cover for cresswell i think cresswell has been ok so far this season hes been lacking help from midfield and the winger when he goes forward the midfield of welsh mcclaren mahon and suker has been awful hence the problems the defence have incurred by there lazy work rate

obviously we should drop the holding midfielders as well as we've established for ages they are both rubbish, I've said that for ages.
