Today Tranmere take on Northampton Town at Prenton Park in Coca-Cola League One. Discuss all your pre-match views, your thoughts after the game and if you won't be at the the game today then why not post updates on our game and all others concerning us, as Tranmere look to add another home win.
Northampton Town Match Thread

At Total Tranmere, we always like to take note of feedback from the users of the site and respond to it in the best way we can.  One thing we have picked up on more recently is that after Tranmere games there seem to be a lot of different threads that get started about the same game.

As a result of this feedback, from now on we will be introducing Match Threads for every occasion when Tranmere play.

Tranmere are of course at home to Northampton Town today but if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.  Or why not post the line-ups or anything else you can think of.

Why not also use this facility to discuss other League One games and scores that kick-off at 3.00pm which may or may not have an effect on Tranmere too.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Great result, great second half performance but the first 30 minutes were extremely sloppy. Every past went 5 yards away from the player, it was shocking. There goal was another example of lack of communication between Goodison and Coyne. Goodison was shocking for the first 30 minutes.

However once we got the first goal the whole side seemed to be lifted and we started to play as we know we can. There were some really good moves.

My MOTM today has to be Bas Savage, I thought he was excellent, worked hard, he got back and defended well and when he had the ball at his feet he was skipping past 3 or 4 players!

Ye totally agree with that, I wasn't too worried when we went 1 down because I thought we looked lively and were likely to score. Savage was outstanding, winning the majority of his headers, working hard, tracking back, his all round play was superb and he was definitely MOTM. Interesting that we went to 442 and won 4-1, I wonder if Ronnie will bear that in mind. All in all though we were really good today, now its about getting the away form right.

I couldnt believe it when we went a goal down completely against the run of play, only one team was likely to win it.
great to see the strikers getting goals, great goal from tony kay and the 4th rapped it up nicely. were back to 0 goal difference now aswel which is good.

I think we needed a good convincing win today to restore some confidence within the team. Curran and Savage were brilliant and linked well with eachother.

To be honest that goal we conceded lifted the team into action and worked in our favour as Ian Goodison nearly made up for the shocking back pass by scoring himself. Once we got the first goal we got back to the normal passing game and deserved to win by the scoreline.

And who said Bas wouldn't fit the bill? Early days yet but he looks a good asset for us upfront.

mikey how can you say the first 30 mibns where shocking there first half performance from start to finish was the best i have ever seen a tranmere team play. They where liely they where confident they passed it brilliantly and just looked fantastic!

every time we went forward we looked like we wwhere going to score and i wasnt worried at any ntime of conceading when they attacked us because apart from the mistake goodison was just class !

Bas savage, well what can i say superb! He ran the show up top and caused there defence so many problems, he took on there team with effertless ease at time. his goal was very well taken and the moonwalk was a great littlle touch !

This win has made me really smile today there was something about them tody thta i have never seen in a tranmere team before, and that was belief that they could win and they knew they where going to win and that confidence ws echoed into the crowd who got behind the team and never got on there backs.

Coyne (6) - nothing really to do recovered weL from the goal though

taylor (8) - brillaitn hard working and determined as usual

Goodison (8) - apart from the mistake he was brillaint there was a tackle he made and then shimyed a defender that just proved the mans genius

Chorley (6) - didnt realy shine today but did what he had to

Edds (7) - thought he was solid and looked comfortable at right back

Shuker (5) - i felt a little sorry for the big man as he worked hard and always looked to get involved but was poor on the ball and ruined alot of good opportunities.

Jenno (7) - worked and battled away in midfield got stuck in and was the engine in our midfield

Kay(7) - same as jenno just worked hard battles away between them they will win every 50/50 in the middle of the park

Sonko(7) - always running combined well with savage and curran but poor final product at times.

Savage(10) - Abosloutly spot on ! no more needed to say!!!!

Curran (9) - ran his socks off took his goal well and troubled there defence all game !

Overall i throughly enjoyed the match and jsut hope they keep it up cz if they do theres no stopping them

I would tend to agree more with Mikey to be honest Dani.

The first 15-20 minutes or so at least were terrible and although they went ahead through a mistake by us, we didn't do anything at that stage to have deserved to be in front ourselves.

After that though we were unstoppable for the rest of the half and could probably have added more than 3 goals.

Seems wrong to criticise anything but Sonko's finishing needs a bit of work still lol!

Coyne (7)

Taylor (8)
Goodison (7)
Chorley (8)
Edds (8)

Shuker (5)
Jennings (6)
Kay (7)
Sonko (7)

Curran (8)
Savage (9)

Greenacre (6)
Moore (7)

As Ste said a much needed confidence boost ahead of two more home games to come!

Send me the report whenever you like Mark mate!
