Signing Number 3 David Edgar

July 1 2009
What a last couple of days we have experienced at Turf Moor, the club have confirmed today signing number three, Newcastle United's David Edgar has accepted a four year deal. The young 22 year old has been captured by Owen Coyle with Birmingham City who were also interested missing out.

Born on the 19th May 1987 in Kitchener Canada, David joined Newcastle's player academy at 14. His position is centre back although Newcastle have used him in a full back role.

Owen Coyle tried on a couple of occasions last season to bring him on loan but was refused each time. But persistance pays off in the end with Owen finally getting his man. David has rejected a new offer from Newcastle in favour of the one from Burnley

Due to him being sent off in the last game of the season at Aston Villa, Edgar will not be available for Burnley's opening day Premiership fixture away to Stoke City, but I am sure it will not be long before the Turf Moor crowds are chanting his name.

The Longside welcomes David Edgar

I have to say that, despite their reputation, the Newcastle fans on that board are indulging In a far more reasoned and intelligent debate than you often get on here or CM.
