Sunderland £9million 'keeper Craig Gordon will see a specialist today to discover what further treatment will be needed on his injured knee. The Scot has not ruled out the possibility that he could get good news and be back playing again this season.
Time is against Sunderland's record signing though with only 3 games remaining.
"I'm waiting to see what the specialist reports back today and will have a better idea where things stand after that." said Gordon
"There hasn't been a great deal of improvement in the
injury since I had to stop playing and training. It's still
pretty sore.
"You never know, we will see what the specialist says and take
it from there.
"Hopefully I can get this season over with, we remain in the
Premier League and we kick on next season.
"It's not looking likely that I will play again this
season, but at the same time I don't want to rule that out
until I know for definite that I won't be able to get back for
any games this season.
"I'm still hopeful something will be sorted out and
I'll be able to play.
"If not then I have to make sure I'm fully fit, do my work
over the summer and get ready for next season."
