Michael Chopra has rejoined Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season. Sunderland have let the 25-year-old striker sign for the Bluebirds until May, when he will complete a permanent move in a deal worth nearly £4m. Chopra had a successful three-month spell with Cardiff earlier this season, scoring five goals in 11 games for the Wales club before returning to the Stadium of Light at the start of January.

He has played two games for Sunderland - against Blackburn in the FA Cup and Newcastle yesterday - since returning from his spell with the Championship promotion hopefuls.

The striker joined the Black Cats in July 2007, from Cardiff after scoring 22 goals from 42 games for them.

Chopra has scored eight goals in 41 appearances for Sunderland - including a dramatic late winner on his debut against Tottenham.
