Ricky Sbragia says that Club captain Dean Whitehead will not be sold in the January transfer window. Hull City boss Phil Brown revealed last night that he wants Whitehead at the KC Stadium, saying that he had made an "enquiry" for Sunderland's skipper. But the news came as a surprise to Sbragia. "I spoke to Phil yesterday and he never mentioned Dean," said the Sunderland boss. "I spoke to him about wanting to recall Paul McShane, he never brought Dean into the conversation.

"Dean's not for sale. I've said many times I've got a squad of players I want to keep. We're under no pressure to sell."
