Town boss Mick McCarthy said he was delighted to see his changes from the team at the weekend play a major part in the 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Speaking to the Official Club Website, after the game, McCarthy said: “It’s nice when it comes off. We had to freshen it up. It was a tough game against Charlton and I wanted new legs in there.

"We have been badgering on at Luke about taking a chance, not making that pass but having that shot at goal. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score so I was delighted for him.

“Carlos took his goal really well. It would have been easy for him to just swing at it with his left foot and Frank got his goal at the end.He didn’t have a great first-half but he was much better in the second and was a handful for them.

“They finished the first-half stronger and I had a few choice words to say at half-time but we were better in the second-half and overall we probably just about deserved it.

“We didn’t play that well, nor did they but we’ve ground out back to back wins and we haven’t done that very often.”
