All you hear about these days is “getting your foot in the door” but I say different. Writing sports reports should be seen as a way of expressing your passion for sport. Hi my name is Emma. I am currently studying sports journalism at university where I am mostly known as the "petrol head" of the group.
To be honest with you, I never had any interest in motor sport until 2005 when a day of boredom spurred me into watching the Formula One to pass the time. I can't remember which race it was but the winner was Fernando Alonso who went on to be champion. So now you probably all want to know who I am supporting. Well it’s quite a long list to be honest. Firstly, Fernando Alonso. He is a driver who secured my love of Formula One. He is an amazing talent who works really hard with the team to improve the car and turn them into a race winning outfit. 2005/2006 was arguably my two favorite seasons in Formula One because of the close battle between Michael Schumacher and Alonso. It had me on the edge of my seat every week. Emma (Site Admin) Secondly, Nico Rosberg. I began supporting him in his debut season in Formula One, and what a debut it was! He went into the Bahrain Grand Prix and ended up in a spin which left him stone last. It didn’t stop him though because he went on a mind blowing charge up the field to finish seventh. He topped that off with a third place in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix, it was a shame his engine couldn’t see him to the end of the race. My most memorable moment was his first ever podium in Australia in 2008, yes there were real tears running down these cheeks! Sebastian Vettel speaks for himself when it comes to supporting him. He is an amazing young driver and sure to be a champion some day. The obvious moment in his career which blew me away was his first Grand Prix victory at Monza in the pouring rain. I think he gave everyone a lesson in wet race driving! He was setting fast laps for fun in a Toro Rosso and it was great to see. 2009 was a great year for him and I found myself backing him for the title. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I get the chance to do it again. Nico Hulkenberg and Bruno Senna are my two rising stars that have made it into Formula One and I’m delighted for them. I have been following Nico Hulkenberg through the F3 Euroseries and GP2 Series and some of his racing takes the air out of your lungs. He knew that he needed to fight Romain Grosjean hard for the GP2 title and he did with some amazing drives. Bruno Senna is not just someone I support for being a good driver, hes an amazing person. He never gives up when the going gets tough and he always smiles through them. One moment that was heartbreaking for me was the long wait he had to endure with Honda. Eventually he didn’t get the seat but now he has finally got a place at Campos Meta in motor sports finest series: Formula One. Finally my most memorable Grand Prix so far is Australia 2008 because I had been supporting Nico Rosberg for a full two years and he got his first podium. It was the most amazing moment for me because I had seen all the good and bad times and all his hard work finally paid off. I was up at 2am to see this race live like I always am and it will stick with me for years to come. Anyway that’s enough about me. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do running it! Keep up your support for this amazing motor sport and good Luck to the Campos Meta team!
