Phil Brown was happy that striker Jozy Altidore got a full 90 minutes and was on the score sheet against Southend in the Second round of the League cup on Tuesday night . "Jozy got himself a winning goal. He's probably still suffering from jetlag if truth be known.
Altidore came on at the weekend against Bolton to make have a hand in the winning goal and he impressed many again last night.
Brown continued
"But he's played in a good, competitive game last night. That is what it was because Southend were no pushovers. Their goal just before half time made a game of it and certainly livened up our half time team-talk.
"There's still a lot of work to do to get Jozy up to Premier League fitness levels and to get him up to speed with the division. Last night was a big stepping stone for him and the biggest bonus of the night was getting 90 minutes out of him."
