Phil Brown has praised the performance of the youngsters who helped Hull to a 3-1 in the Carling Cup second round against League one side Southend . Liam Cooper Nicky Featherstone, Tom Cairney and Will Atkinson all started the game.
"Getting through to the next round maybe gives us an opportunity to see
the rest of the young lads at this club, the ones that didn't play last
night," said Brown.
"The likes of Cooper, Cairney, Featherstone and Atkinson have had a little run out.
"Tom is a goal-scoring midfielder, one who could possibly answer the questions from last season. Who knows how far he can go, but he showed a definite ability last night and a definite awareness for a young man.
"It was a good night at the office because of the win, because of the youthful exuberance of the team and because they expressed themselves in a good manner. Now they've got a chance to do it again.
"It was important to make sure those kids got the chance to gain some experience at first team level. They provided some good pictures and made me feel as though my squad is stronger."
