Newcastle defender Habib Beye has opted to join Aston Villa instead of Hull City. The Tigers has a bid accepted for the player but it seems Villa have piped Hull to the post to secure the right backs signature. The fee has been undisclosed but is rumoured to be around £3.5 million. Beye joined Newcastle in 2007 from French side Marseille for £2 million during the closing minutes of the summer transfer window. He signed a 3 year contract Newcastle manager at the time Sam Allardyce felt he acquired Beye for a "bargain" price.

He's been a big hit with the fans on Tyne side and even has a website called Beyewatch. His ability to defend well and provide a good outlet going forward made him the official Newcastle player of the season 2008.

He continued to Perform well in a struggling Magpies side last season but couldn't help the club avoid relegation. After Newcastle were relegated from the Premier League an article stated Beye's intention to remain at the club to help get them back into the Premier League.

However He was recently reported to have said that he had to leave the club in order to save his career.
