Goalkeeper Matt Duke has been rewarded for his recent form by signing a new improved contract. Duke has signed a one year extension to his previous deal and his new deal now runs until 2011. Duke has recently been picked to start in goal and has not disappointed with some great displays including a clean sheet against Chelsea.
"I've worked hard over the years and I'm just glad to have been given the chance," said Duke. "People call the Premier League the best in the world and this is where I want to be. The aim now is to stay in the team. "I'm delighted and was more than happy to sign the new contract. "It is something that has been in the pipeline since the Newcastle FA Cup games and things progressed after the West Ham game."
Duke will probably be rested for the game against Sheffield United
